Neal you're a god.

I don't know why I didn't have to do this for the 2.2 kernel, but I did it
for the 2.4 and all of the sudden it was happy.  It even picked up my 2nd
card when I put it in without a hiccup.

  you have to do something like

  append ethers and then tell it the io port and irq the NE2000 is using.

top of his head.


   There is an example of how to do it for a single card in this URL -

"append" and you'll find it.
