It is beacuse you were using a module in 2.2.x ( RH 6.2 probed the
hardware and auto-configured it for you ) and now in your 2.4.x kernel
it is static, the ne2k driver as of 2.something kernel does not default
to auto-probe your hardware, as it used to lock machines up quite
frequently, however, kudzu, or the RH installer app probed your hardware
for you and configured the module acordingly
