Thanks to OLUG for hosting the Installfest, and providing bot the
network and the experts to get us going. Special thanks to Nate and
Phil for confirming that it slings packets correctly.
I have a question about my RedHat 7.1 install. The PC has two network
cards and runs ipchains if I recall correctly (the box is at home, and
I'm at work). It works fine for surfing but my better half can't use
WS_FTP to post to her web site. From the error messages, I'm guessing
that the web server she wants is seeing her private address on the
"safe" side of the firewall.
My question:do I need a separate ftp forwarder, or will adding the
following line to my fiewall rules help:
# allow ftp
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m multiport --destination-port 21 -j ACCEPT
I don't have anything like that in there. I've thought I only disabled
ftp access from the outside into the box. That's certainly a concern
for me, since I don't want cox at hell finding an open port and accusing me
of something I don't want to do.
Thanks again for all of your help,
Joe
