Disclaimer: I'm an novice programmer at best, but my
thoughts are below anyway, for what they're worth...

Personally, I'm a fan of the Deitel series, and I too
have the C edition from '94. In fact, it was the text
book when I took my first programming class back in
'99. I still have it today and use it when necessary.
Later editions of their programming series is a bit
cartoonish (I also have Java 4th ed. from them) for my
taste.
I also have "C: The Complete Reference", 4th Ed.,
which I use primarily as a reference, rather than a
main source of information. The explanations in here
are not near as good as Deitel's.

I've looked at "Practical C", but have yet to buy it.
>From what I can tell, which isn't much, it looks like
a good book, but one I would buy only after I became
much more comfortable with the language. It does go
into data structure topics (queues, stacks, trees,
etc.), which are a bit more advanced topics in my
opinion. For myself, I would need to work my way up
to this one. Besides, I can't remember if it offers
much of a C tutorial in it anywhere, or not.
